Tela Genova
the oldest preserved pair of jeans from 1860 can be found in the Central Museum of the Risorgimento in Vittoriano (Rome) and belonged to Giuseppe Garibaldi. His jeans model was once “baptized” as the Tela Genova-model in 1515.
the oldest & most valuable testimony is an artistic series of cloths depicting the Passion of Christ on a linen ground dyed with indigo in the 16th century. originally intended as blue ship-sails, they were worn by Genoese sailors, and this is how this fantastic fabric began its journey around the world to the present day: the transformation of sailcloth into clothing-fashion took place right in the city of Genova.
Tela Genova stands for history that can be worn in the truest sense of the word – whether for formal occasions, as workwear or as a loyal leisure companion. AETMEN is very proud of the close friendship with Tela Genova: we’re aware that we’re literally a fashion hub here with a cultural mission in Vienna.
